Organizational statistics provides a comprehensive overview of information on the organizational structure of the economy of the Slovak Republic.

The data source of organizational statistics is the Statistical Business Register administrated by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic according to Act No. 540/2001 Coll. on state statistics, as amended. The Statistical Business Register of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic is continuously updated with data from the Register of Legal Entities, Entrepreneurs and Public Authorities (hereinafter referred to as the “RPO”), which was established according to Act No. 272/2015 Coll. on the Register of Legal Entities, Entrepreneurs and Public Authorities and on Amendments to Certain Acts, data from other administrative sources and from statistical surveys.

The Statistical Business Register keeps data on legal persons, natural persons – entrepreneurs, enterprises of a foreign person, organizational units and public authorities. The register is used for statistical purposes and the registered data has informative character.

The unique identification number (IČO) is used to uniquely identify entities registered in the statistical business register, which has registration meaning. The Statistical Office provides the IČO in accordance with the RPO Act in an automated manner at the request of the obliged entity that maintains source registers and records, entry in which is a condition for the establishment of a legal person, or a condition for the establishment of a business license for a natural person - entrepreneur. The assigned identification number may not be assign to another legal person, natural person - entrepreneur, enterprise of a foreign person, organizational unit or other public authority, even if the person to whom it was assigned ceases to exist. Only one identification number is assigned to a legal person, natural person - entrepreneur, enterprise of a foreign person, organizational unit and public authority. To a person who has multiple legal statuses according to the previous sentence or has the legal status of a natural person - entrepreneur according to several regulations, only one identification number is assigned.

In addition to identification data (IČO, business name, registered office or address of place of business), classification data is also recorded into the statistical business register, such as the main economic activity code (SKNACE Rev.2), national accounts subsector code (ESA2010), legal form, size category, etc.
